On April 3, 2023, a former employee named Stinger the Mascot staged a protest at the Akita Pest Control’s Lancaster office.
On this page, we will set the record straight about Stinger’s claims.
The Truth About Wasps
Wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets are a direct danger to the public and your family. These stinging insects are aggressive and will sting victims multiple times, causing serious injury.
In fact, there is an estimated 200,000 visits to the emergency room every year due to wasp stings, and 60 deaths each year due to wasp stings.
When you find a wasp nest, don’t try to handle it yourself; the DIY methods and store-bought treatments can be ineffective and lead to serious injury. Instead, call a professional exterminator to safely treat the issue so they can’t hurt you.
What About Bees?
While bees look similar to wasps and hornets, there are some important distinctions. The main difference is the danger each presents to the general population. Bees generally want to be left alone and are not aggressive, while wasps, yellowjackets, and hornets can be aggressive when defending their nest.
Bees are crucial to the central PA ecosystem, with bees estimated to pollinate 1/3 of all crops in the United States. We do not treat or exterminate any bees or pollinating insects. Instead, when we find a beehive, we work with local beekeepers to safely remove and relocate the hive so it can flourish away from the general population.

“Wow! I will never again need to wonder who I will call when I have bug problems! We had a large yellow jacket nest in a dormer window in my daughter’s room. Dave E. was dispatched to our house and was amazing! He not only took care of all the live yellow jackets, he removed the nest! Finally, after living in Lancaster for 7 years, we now have a reliable exterminator!”

Excellent customer service, both on the phone and in person. Fabian came to our house to help us with the swarm of yellow jackets in our laundry room. He was great at problem solving and patient answering all my questions and concerns. Not only did he get rid of the problem, but he went out of his way to make sure my concerns about my cats getting into the room were addressed. Highly recommend!

After a weekend not being able to sleep thinking about the yellow jacket nest. I was trying to remove them by buying sprays bottles from the local stores until I noticed the Akita Pest Control car on the road and realize how foolish I was wasting money before calling a professional company.
In a single day, at the promised time Lex (short for Alexis) showed at my place, in a couple of hours all the problems were gone, No more wasp in my external ceiling.
I can predict this is a business that will grow, their efficiency and quality of their personal, fair price as promised in their website.
Learn this, Akita is a large breed of dog from Japan and an excellent pest removal company in Lititz, Pennsylvania, USA.

Akita granted us an appointment within two days of my contacting them. They eradicated 2 yellow jacket nests. The insects had gotten aggressive and stung our dog several times. The technician, Mr. LaFoe, was knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and professional. The cost of service was reasonable, and well worth it. I highly recommend this company.

Woke up on a Saturday to over 50 yellow jackets in my bathroom. Called Akita at 9am and they were at my house at 1030, which is exceptional for a service call out of the blue. Chad, the technician, was very professional and found the source of entry and the hive, and took care of the problem. Overall great experience from a local company instead of the big chain franchise guys.

Submitted an appointment request online one evening, they called me the next morning to schedule, Rusty came out on scheduled day and quickly took care of our yellow jackets going into the roof. Very professional and pleasant to work with. Thank you!
